The horror parody franchise is being rebooted according to Paramount, who announced the news ahead of their slate announcement at Cinemacon.

One fan posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) to say: “Not gonna hit the same”, whilst another said “It’s just not gonna be the same. Early 2000s humor is what make it amazing”.
Another added: “Reboots, new seasons, unnecessary live action remakes MAKE IT STOP.”
Others though are just excited to have a Scary Movie film back.

One wrote: "These could be good for a laugh and because we haven’t had one in awhile they have a lot of stuff to make fun of.”
While another replied to say: “hold on.. this might be a reboot i’m actually interested in.”
People have been speculating which films could be parodied in particular - as the original focuses mostly on the first Scream movie.
One commenter on subreddit r/movies said: “They are most probably poking fun at Hereditary and all the other ‘elevated horror’ movies, right?”

The horror genre has massively taken off in the last 10 years, with a solid reboot of the Scream franchise and numerous horror bangers from Blumhouse and A24.
Fast and Furious producer Neal H. Moritz will produce the new Scary Movie.

The studio have not confirmed whether any of the original cast, such as Anna Farris or any of the Wayans will return.
One comment on r/movies said: “They wouldn't cut Anna Ferris out....Right?”
If they do I think we all agree - we riot.
Paramount have confirmed though that, whist a release date isn’t set in stone – as production will begin later this year and they are aiming to release the film in 2025.
The Paramount panel for Cinemacon has already led to some bangers, with the Scary Movie news also being joined by the announcement that there will be a Transformers and GI: Joe crossover.
