Prime Video have issued a last minute warning ahead as the season finale for The Boys drops on the season platform today, July 18.
The streaming service has taken to social media to warn people that the final episode of season four might be 'distressing' for some viewers in light of recent events.
The episode was initially called 'Assassination Run' but after the attempt on Donald Trump's life on Saturday (July 13), Prime Video have renamed it as just 'Season 4 Finale' instead.
As per the original title, the finale depicts an assassination attempt of the President Shaefer.

With the nature of the episode in mind, The Boys and Prime Video have issued a warning.
The streamer has also added a trigger warning at the beginning of the episode.
The social statement shared on Instagram reads: "The season finale of The Boys contains scenes of fictional political violence which some viewers may find disturbing, especially in light of the injuries and tragic loss of life sustained during the assassination attempt of former President Trump."

It continued: "The Boys is a fictitous series that was filmed in 2023, and any scene or plotline similarities to these real-world events are coincidental and unintentional.
"Amazon, Sony Pictures Television and the producers of The Boys reject, in the strongest terms, real-world violence of any kind."
Similar sentiments are echoed in the newly-added trigger warning at the beginning of the episode.
But not everyone is pleased about the disclaimer, with some The Boys fans saying that it's unnecessary.

"I can't believe you have to make this explanation," wrote one person.
A second person said: "Can't believe you have to actually explain it's not real."
"Since when a parody have to say any apologies," added a third.
While others have argued that the warning has spoiled the finale for them.

Speaking last month about the show having more politics over the seasons, The Boys creator Eric Kripke explained that when they first pitched the show, Trump had not been elected.
"When we first pitched the show, it was before Trump was elected," he told Variety. "And the idea that a celebrity would actively want to turn themselves into a fascist autocrat was kind of a crazy idea. I mean, it still is. But it turned out to have happened?
"We sort of lucked into a show whose metaphor is really about the moment we’re living in, which is the cross-section of celebrity and authoritarianism."

Noting Homelander's George Bush-esque speech in season one, Kripke added: "It is there from the beginning."
