The Simpsons fans baffled after realizing there's a secret movie hidden in episodes

The Simpsons fans baffled after realizing there's a secret movie hidden in episodes

An eagle-eyed Simpsons fan spotted the key detail

Fans of The Simpsons have been left floored after an eagle-eyed viewer spotted something dating back to the second season of the show.

The Simpsons has been running for decades, but fans are still learning new things about the show to this very day.

One thing that many people have come to realize is that the show is eerily good at predicting the future.

Addressing how this is the case, The Simpsons' writer Al Jean made it sound as if it's pretty easy to do.

Speaking to NME, he said: “One of our writers, the guy whose episode predicted Donald Trump as president, said it best, ‘If you write 700 episodes and you don’t predict anything, then you’re pretty bad. If you throw enough darts, you’re going to get some bullseyes'."

But away from the show's future predicting abilities, there's something else that fans have spotted - a hidden movie within the show.

In an Inception-like twist, one viewer took to social media to point out that there's a film that plays out in different parts in different episodes.

In a thread shared to X on July 8, the account @Criminalsimpsons said: "The Simpsons has a hidden movie starring Rainier Wolfcastle as McBain. The scenes are scattered through three seasons but they form a coherent storyline."

Mind blown? Ours too.

The first part of the movie is shown in the season two episode 'The Way We Was', with the final instalment being in 'Last Exit to Springfield' - the seventeenth episode of Season 4.

People have since gone wild for the revelation and hailed the mini movie as a 'masterpiece'.

Others have called for McBain to get his own spin-off show or into its own stand-alone movie.

Someone said: "I’m honestly surprised this was never made into a spin off show lol."

"The real question is why they never turned this into its own tv show or a one shot film," wrote another.

"I would like to see this as a full feature film," echoed a third Simpsons viewer.

Away from McBain, some fans have been asking for a follow-up to 2007's The Simpsons Movie.

The show's creator Matt Groening teased back in 2019 that there was 'no doubt' that there would be a sequel - but the movie is yet to go into production.

"No doubt there will be another Simpsons movie one of these days," he said at the San Diego Comic-Con. "I think Disney wants something for its money."
