World's most famous actor is a man that no one actually recognizes

He's been in some of the best films in the last three decades but you've never seen his face

There’s a huge actor who has acted in a crazy number of films and you’ve probably never realized.

That’s because you wouldn’t be able to tell it’s the same actor unless you have x-ray vision.

With over 150 credits to his name in the last 30 years, he’s loved by special effects teams all over Hollywood thanks to his distinctive look.

If you still don’t know who it is, let’s explore his roles.

He’s worked with George Clooney, Angelina Jolie, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Meryl Streep.

He’s worked with the best directors in the film-scene and is given bad-ass roles to boot.

You’re definitely not getting who it is yet.

His face is a mystery because he’s generally covered in prosthetics, costumes and a heavy dose of makeup for his roles, and his slender frame means that effects teams can make him look bulky and beefy whenever they want.

He played the poor zombie, Billy Butcherson in Hocus Pocus and teamed up with director Guillermo del Toro to play Abe Sapien in Hellboy and the Faun AND the Pale Man in Pan’s Labyrinth, respectively.

Social media users were baffled when they realized who he was and quickly commented their surprise.

One person wrote on X: “I watched that movie but didn't know he was that monster.”

Another wrote: “Never knew he was in batman returns!?!”

Someone else commented: “There’s a few parts there I never realised he played. I feel somewhat dumb now. Thanks!”

One person stated that he is ‘literally every creepy character you can imagine. He was in some movie and then I watched hellboy and had no idea till the credits’.

    Okay, it’s Doug Jones.

Jones has been smashing the Hollywood scene for years, and has been in award-winning films that have gone on to take home three Oscars (Pan’s Labyrinth) due to its Best Makeup and ethereal costumes.

But even though he’s hidden away behind heavy makeup, he is a dedicated actor who loves his craft.

According to reports, he not only prepares his lines and mannerisms, but also studies the characters on a deeper level to be able to convey feeling without uttering a single word.

Even though a lot of celebs like to flaunt their faces and gain recognition for their work, Jones prefers to be unknown and let his work do the talking.

In an interview with BuzzFeed, Jones said: “I’m hired because I’m a tall, skinny guy – with other talents, I hope.

“But the creature effects guys love to start with a skinny, long palette because they can build on it and not make it too bulky.”

Del Toro also praised Jones’s work to Buzzfeed: “A creature performer needs to be a very odd combination of [a] marathon runner and a mime, who can express himself through layers and layers of latex and acrylic and silicon.

“It’s a very, very rare discipline… [and] there are very, very few that are actual actors, in my opinion, that goes beyond being able to work in a suit or under makeup.

    “Doug is a proper actor.”
