Break ups are never easy, especially when you're in the public eye.
Zoë Kravitz has been maintaining a dignified silence in the wake of her split with Channing Tatum.
The pair first met after she cast him for a role in her directorial debut film, Blink Twice.

Instead of harsh words, Kravitz has chosen to praise her ex publicly for his work.
Talking to The Batman director Matt Reeves in one of Variety’s Directors on Directors interviews, Kravitz revealed why she decided to cast Channing.
She revealed she wanted 'to weaponize his charisma,' and to be honest, who can blame her.

“Channing was the first person I thought of for Slater King, and I don’t know where that came from,” she said about his character.
Tatum plays a popular billionaire in the psychological thriller, and she said audiences have 'never seen him' play this type of character.
The couple called time on their engagement back in October, but even though they have split, Kravitz only had kind things to say about him.
“I knew that the character needed to be somebody who we think we trust, especially because you don’t believe Naomi [Ackie] (who played Frida) is getting on that plane if it’s someone who is immediately insidious,” Kravitz said.

In a 2021 interview she said: "[He was the one] I thought of when I wrote this character. I just knew from Magic Mike and his live shows, I got the sense he's a true feminist and I wanted to collaborate with someone who was clearly interested in exploring this subject matter."
She also said it was 'delicious' to get to see Channing play the bad guy for once.
Kravitz revealed: “He was doing such a good job, and as an actor, I'm like, ‘This is delicious stuff that he's never gotten a chance to do,'" Kravitz said.
"And also, he's doing this part because he's an ally. He wants to tell this story.”

They previously promoted the film as a couple, and praised the experience of working with a loved one.
Tatum told PEOPLE magazine: "To get to create something with someone that you love is probably one of the most gratifying things.”
"We got to work together and go through hard things together and support each other, and it was beautiful," Kravitz agreed.

Their romance was first noticed in August or 2021 when they were spotted out in New York.
They first started talking about each other in interviews at the start of 2022.
An engagement followed in October 2023, but it only lasted for a year as 'they realized they're at different stages in life,' according to a source.
Despite splitting up, the pair have another project to work on called Alpha Gang.
While working with your ex could be a nightmare for many, they are still looking forward to it according to a source.
An insider said: "They will continue to work together and are excited about a new project. They both love filming and creating. Channing has a lot of respect for Zoë's focus and passion."
