The live-action version of The Little Mermaid will be almost an hour longer than the original.
According to AMC Theatre, the trip under the sea looks like a lengthy expedition, as the company confirmed the highly awaited flick has a running time of two hours and 15 minutes.
This is 51 minutes longer than the 1989 classic, which is 84 minutes long.

Some of the additional time could be attributed to the extra songs added to the Rob Marshall feature, spearheaded by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda alongside original composer Menken.
But rest assured, classics like ‘Under the Sea’ and ‘Kiss the Girl’ will still be in this 2023 incarnation.
During an interview with People magazine, Miranda stated that his main goal while composing songs for the live-action movie was to ‘tell the story as honestly as possible’.

"With Encanto, our goal was how complexly can we put an intergenerational Latino family on screen? How can we write really honestly, about the way we see ourselves, versus the role in which our family puts us? Sometimes, that is your life's work and finding who you are in the midst of all that," he told the outlet.
However, Miranda is not only composing additional songs, he’s also serving as a producer.
While speaking with Empire, the actor got candid about why he was initially drawn to the project, to which he admitted he was a lifelong fan.

“You can ask my fourth-grade teacher - I would get up on the desk and sing 'Under The Sea'. I just was Sebastian the crab for a few months,” he revealed.
"I said, 'Happy to write new lyrics if they need them. And if they don't, I won't. I do not want to shoehorn in a song that no one wants to sit through because they want to get to 'Under The Sea' already. I'm that person! 'GET ON WITH 'UNDER THE SEA!''
However, the songwriter said that he would only sign up to the film on one condition: that they would only include songs that would drive the narrative forward.
He added: "I said, 'I will sign on as a producer. But really the hat I'm wearing is, Chairman of the 'Don't F**k It Up' committee. And I will weigh in when I think you're f**kin' it up!'"
