Robert Downey Jr. has offered a proposition after being told that Tom Cruise wants to make a Tropic Thunder sequel.
The 58-year-old actor starred as Kirk Lazarus alongside Cruise, 60, as Les Grossman in the 2008 action-comedy movie.
Also featuring Ben Stiller and Jack Black, it follows a film crew shooting a war movie when the actors end up getting attacked themselves and are mistaken by a gang of local drug dealers.

The movie was a hit at the box office, and reports have recently surfaced suggesting Cruise wants to get it going again – in some way at least.
Earlier this year, it was reported by Far Out Magazine that the Mission Impossible actor wanted to bring his character back, maybe in another movie or even in a spin-off series.
And it’s possible Downey Jr. could also be down to bring back Lazarus.

Melvin Robert of ExtraTV told him: “Tropic Thunder, Tom Cruise is saying he’d like to do a sequel.”
And after an extended ‘wow’ from Downey Jr., the host asked up-front: “Would you do it?”
The actor and producer said: “Look, all I’ll say is this, Tom Cruise and I have not done a project yet together. And that’s kind of a yes, and then we’ll figure out what the title is.”

Cruise has shown interest in reliving the Tropic Thunder days before, too. Back in 2020, he reprised his role as Grossman at the MTV Movie Awards.
As well as dancing with actual dancer Jennifer Lopez on stage, he delivered curse word-filled commands typical of his memorable character.
There have consistently been reports that both Cruise and producer Christopher McQuarrie are ‘fixated on’ the character from the noughties.
Deadline reported that they are ‘one step closer’ to reviving Grossman, but it is ‘unclear’ if they’ll ‘create a whole movie around Grossman, or borrow him for inclusion in either of the other vehicles’.

And in talks of bringing back characters, ExtraTV also asked Downey Jr. at the premiere of his series Downey’s Dream Cars if we’d be seeing his superhero again.
“What about Iron Man 4?” But after some hesitation, the actor avoided the question with a joke.
“Does he want to do that?” Downey asked, before hilariously pleading: “Tom don’t take it! Don’t take it!”
