Ryan Reynolds has shown his commitment to the Deadpool character in more ways than one, but for the first film the star went beyond what was necessary for one detail.
Ryan Reynolds has been in Hollywood for decades but right now the actor is known for perfectly encapsulating the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool.
Well, the *second time* he managed to nail the role, the less said about X-Men Origins’ Deadpool, the better.

While the 2016 Deadpool film was a massive hit both critically and financially, there is an added detail that Reynolds wanted to make sure was included in the film.
He felt so strongly that he spent $10,000 of his own money to ensure that he could wear one specific t-shirt that his character, Wade Wilson, would definitely wear.
According to commentary on the film’s DVD, Reynolds wanted to make sure he could have Bea Arthur’s likeness in the film.

Her face was printed on a t shirt that Reynold’s character wore during the film and there is a pretty simple reason for it.
Bea Arthur was an American actress known for her role in the 80s classic TV show, The Golden Girls.
Why is this important? Well, the Deadpool character loves Arthur and the Golden Girls, in fact, he has claimed to be her number one fan and would regularly watch reruns of the show.
Reynolds reportedly made his request in person, and donated the money to an undisclosed charity, thereby securing permission from Arthur’s estate.

People learnt about this on Reddit and couldn’t quite believe the dedication to the tiniest detail.
One social media user wrote: “You can love him, hate him, find him annoying, or a little bit of all 3, but you can't deny this dude's passion for the project and his genuine love for Deadpool.
“He'll do everything he can to see a vision through, whether it be a joke, a pop culture reference, or fan-service (and this is not just a reference to this isolated event).”

Another added: “And this is just one of many reasons why fans love Ryan Reynolds.”
A third added: “Ryan’s a legend for that. Deadpool wouldn’t be the same without her!”
With another adding just how important Bea Arthur is to Deadpool in the comics, they wrote: “No idea why, but Bea Arthur has been a long running bit in the Deadpool comics for years before the movie was made. Deadpool’s swords are named Arthur and Bea btw.”
