Sharon Stone said she was never 'comfortable' around Basic Instinct co-star Michael Douglas while filming the movie, and that's part of what made it so great.
You probably know all about Basic Instinct by now, and even if you haven't seen it you probably recognise the scene where Sharon Stone's character is being interrogated by police, or at the very least seen one of the parodies done of it.
The premise of the movie is when a rich rock star gets murdered by an ice pick the prime suspect is his girlfriend Catherine (Sharon Stone), a crime novelist who wrote a book with an eerily similar plot to the murder.
Investigating the murder is detective Nick Curran (Michael Douglas), who soon learns that a character in Catherine's new book is a police detective who gets murdered after falling in love with the wrong woman.

From there it's a downward spiral for Nick who can't help but fall into Catherine's web even as he suspects she is the killer he's searching for.
The real crux of the movie is the tension between Stone and Douglas as their characters hunt each other, and she believes part of the reason it works so well is because she was 'never comfortable' around her co-star.
Speaking shortly after the movie released, Stone said she deliberately didn't get to know Douglas too well so that any tension between the pair behind the scenes could carry through to their performances in front of the camera.

She said: "I had met him on two or three occasions in social situations before I tested with him for this movie.
"I really felt that he and I could have a certain strange, dynamic energy together. I was never comfortable around him, and I don’t think he was comfortable around me."
"It was a primal thing for me. It was all about watching him, observing his movements, provoking him."
It clearly worked considering how iconic the movie became, with Stone saying their 'energy together was strong' and that the tension between the pair 'works very well' on screen.

Stone recently revealed that she'd had a tumour removed, and might not have found it at all after it was initially misdiagnosed.
The 64-year-old had been struggling with her health and decided to visit the doctor to get to the bottom of the issue, and only after seeking a second opinion did she discover she'd need to have a 'large fibroid tumor' removed.
The actor took the opportunity to warn people that seeing a second opinion on medical matters might just save your life.

Meanwhile, in her memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, she said an unnamed producer had pressured her to have sex with one of her co-stars for a film 'to create onscreen chemistry', writing that they 'could have just hired a co-star with talent' or better yet could 'f**k him themselves and leave me out of it'.
