Steve-O has revealed why he thinks Jackass Forever was 'kind of a bummer'.

The 2022 film - which saw the return of Johnny Knoxville and the Jackass squad - proved to be a box office hit doing $80.5 million with a $10 million budget.

Jackass Forever also received a solid 85 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and fans seemed to have largely enjoyed it.

"A gleefully gonzo franchise revival, Jackass Forever will make you worry more than ever for the cast's health and safety -- but not enough to hold back the laughter," read the critics consensus.

While the audience said: "If you've got the stomach for it, Jackass Forever is packed with laughs from start to finish."

The group's wildly dangerous displays of stunts was there for all to see as the final stunt saw Zach, Dave, Eric, Poopies, Steve-O and Jasper attempt to drink milk while strapped to a high-speed carousel.

As they start vomiting, Knoxville and the rest of the cast initiate an attack involving paintball guns, a tennis machine and multiple explosions.

After they thought that the stunt was over, one big explosion is set off and scares them s**tless.

Despite the film's success, Steve-O said in a recent interview with NME that the film 'was kind of a bummer'.

“This last Jackass movie… it was kind of a bummer, man,” he said, while singling out a scene in which Knoxville was left with brain damage after being flipped in the air by a bull.

“It’s not fun to watch Knoxville get hit in the head any more.

“I wrote this text to the whole cast that day, thanking Knoxville for the sacrifices he’s made for this team, and also begging that he stops with the brain trauma.

“It was one of my more serious and sincere messages.”

The stunt performer also spoke about the famous scene with Machine Gun Kelly, as the pair pedalled stationary bikes until a giant foam hand knocked them into a swimming pool.

“I love Machine Gun Kelly; I just wish the actual stunt we had him participate in had been at a higher level,” he said.

Steve-O - who has been sober for 15 years - also issued his well wishes to struggling co-star, Bam Margera.

“I owe everything to my sobriety, and I really made an effort to encourage Bam to choose sobriety,” he said.

“It’s a shame that you can’t make people want to get better. He’s not going to get better because I want him to get better, and I can’t make him want to get better. If he ever does choose recovery then, man, I’m here for him.”
