The Evil Dead franchise got another healthy reboot this week as Evil Dead Rise finally landed in cinemas.
While Sam Raimi is no longer at the helm of the horror franchise, the story has been left in the safe and capable hands of Lee Cronin, who has written and directed the movie:
Now, as you might expect, fans have been very excited since the first trailer was released, which promised a terrifying trip.

And while it's receiving some solid reviews from critics and cinema goers, it looks like the Duffer Brothers have got involved, and really confused things.
Taking to Twitter, the writers, who are responsible for bringing the world of Stranger Things into our lives, say their show and the new Evil Dead movie are linked.
Sharing the poster for the horror flick, the writers teased: "We rarely promote new movies on here… But Evil Dead Rise and ST5 share something small but awesome in common… "

Err, excuse me? What was that now? Well, your guess is as good as ours, because the writers didn't offer anything else.
Instead, they left fans to go into overdrive as they tried desperately to work out what on earth they meant.
And there were plenty of theories out there, with some suggesting it's to do with there being zombies and other thinking there's a link between Eleven and Will Byer.
One person even suggested that it could be the fact that they'd just been to the cinema to see Evil Dead Rise and spotted Finn Wolfhard in the theatre - though how the writers would know that is perhaps a stretch.

But who knows, maybe they're right.
One thing's for certain, though, the writers aren't giving anything away.
"Man some of y’all are so close," they commented. "But no cigar."

When asked if they could give a clue or at least point them in the right direction, no dice.
They replied: "Wish we could. We are probably one tweet away from getting a call from Netflix PR!!"
Hopefully, we'll find out at some point, but it won't be for a while yet.
One thing we do know for sure, however, is that critics are loving Evil Dead, with the film scoring a mightily impressive 85 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

"Claustrophobic and ultimately anti-cathartic, it’s ironically praise to say watching this is like being trapped in a nightmare," wrote one critic.
While another remarked: "The gory-as-hell movie is as campy and fun as any chapter in producer Sam Raimi’s four-decade-old horror series."
Evil Dead Rise is currently showing in cinemas.
