DC fans are convinced they spotted a very familiar face in the first trailer for The Flash.

The trailer, which aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday (12 February), gave comic book fanatics a first look at the hotly anticipated film starring the controversial star Ezra Miller in the titular role.

There are a bunch of familiar faces in the promotional teaser, including the return of Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne aka Batman and Michael Keaton, who played the caped crusader in the 1989 Batman and the 1992 sequel Batman Returns.

While having two versions of Batman in the same film is incredible itself, eagle-eyed fans are convinced that there’s a third hidden in the trailer.

In an early part of the trailer, a shot of a caped figure riding a Batpod is shown cruising through the streets.

Although their face isn’t shown, there’s a growing number of viewers who think the vehicle is identical to the one driven by Christian Bale who portrayed Batman in the Dark Knight trilogy.

“That’s Christian Bale’s Batman,” one fan said alongside a screenshot of a Batman from the trailer.

While another DC fan asked: “Is this Christian Bale as Batman in The Flash movie?"

And one viewer posted a picture from the trailer and tweeted: “Are we going to see Christian Bale’s Batman in The Flash?”

Someone else shared: “So did anybody else see Christian Bale's Batman in The Flash trailer?"

However not all fans are convinced, with one claiming that DC wouldn’t ruin the surprise by including Bale in the trailer.

“It's funny that people think they see Christian Bale in The Flash trailer even though he's not in it - ruins the surprise cameo that he has in the movie. #TheFlashMovie,” they wrote.

The film, which has faced multiple delays due to Covid, will be released in June.

It has been hailed by James Gunn, who is overseeing the new DC Universe era, as the moment that everything changes, paving the way for a new slate of films and content.

Meanwhile, Miller has faced a number of controversies and legal issues leading up to the film's release, including disorderly conduct and second-degree assault charges.

The 30-year-old The Perks of Being a Wallflower star has also been accused of burglarising a house in Vermont, but they have since claimed that those controversies are now behind them.

They released a statement in August 2022 in which he said that the production had ‘gone through a time of intense crisis’.

They added: “[I] want to apologise to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behaviour.

“I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life.”

The Flash will be released on 16 June 2023.
