Netflix has announced that there will be a sequel to The Gray Man, with star Ryan Gosling and directors Joe and Anthony Russo returning.
What’s more, the streaming giant also announced that co-writer Stephen McFeely will work on the script for the follow-up, and there’s to be a spin-off as well.
That spin-off show will be written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, who previously worked on the writing for Deadpool.

The Gray Man, which stars Chris Evans alongside Gosling, has been a smash hit with fans, with some calling it the best Netflix movie they’ve seen in ages.
With that acclaim has come the completely expected clamour for a sequel, so Netflix has clearly moved quickly to ensure that they get that into the pipeline.

The action film sees Gosling portray an undercover CIA agent known only as Six, who finds himself in turmoil after turning up some dark secrets from within his very own agency.
That leads Evans’ character Lloyd Hansen to put out a bounty on him.
Obviously, some high-octane action madness then ensues as a gang of international assassins race to kill Six and claim the bounty for themselves.
The film also stars Ana de Armas, Billy Bob Thornton and British star Regé-Jean Page.

It’s taken a bit of a bashing from the critics, who believe the film to cater more to style than substance, but they’re not the main drivers behind Netflix’s strategy.
Fans have been lapping up the action, which is likely why the platform has been so swift in announcing a follow-up.
This will be popular news amongst those who have taken time to watch the film.

One person commented: "Really good movie. I don’t feel like the ending gave us closure. I would hope a part 2 would happen."
Another said: "Really great movie. Watched it twice. Wishing there is a part 2 to it."
A third wrote: "Watched this yesterday it was really good. Hope they make another."
Before this official announcement, Anthony Russo hinted that there were greater plans afoot by suggesting an entire The Gray Man universe.

He told Screenrant: "Most things we do here we think about as a narrative universe.
"Certainly, that’s how we approach The Gray Man.
"We have many iterations of this narrative in our minds and it can have a variety of expressions, either in films or series.”
His brother Joe added: "If we’re fortunate enough that the audience embraces this movie and we’re fortunate enough to make more of them.
“The movie’s really about a corrupt and toxic patriarchy. The Old Man is representative of that.
"He’s the ethereal character who floats around in the background and clearly has a lot of power and control but is very nefarious.”
