The Marvels trailer, which marks the return of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel, hasn't had the warmest reception from fans since the trailer dropped this week.
Larson starred in Captain Marvel four years ago when she flew on to the scene as Carol Danvers, before returning that same year to help the Avengers take down Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
Although the latest trailer features lots of action and an appearance from Samuel L. Jackson and Ms. Marvel hero Kamala Khan (played by Iman Vellani), fans are apparently unimpressed have since let their feelings be known by hitting the dislike button on YouTube in their droves.
The trailer begins with Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, but it soon switches focus the three women in charge, as Larson leads alongside Teyonah Parris from WandaVision, as well as Vellani.

The Marvels is set after the events of the Disney+ series Ms. Marvel and a post-credits scene in the series showed Kamala seemingly swapping places with Carol - and this is where The Marvels kicks off.
The trailer for the movie indicates that it's not only Kamala and Carol involved in the swapping, but Parris' Monica Rambeau, as well.
The swaps happen any time they use their powers, a mishap which quickly proves to cause some chaos and should prove to be a hit with Marvel fanatics.

Unfortunately, The Marvels has become a victim of dislike-bombing by disgruntled fans, a move some would have predicted given the reaction to the first film by a subset of Marvel followers.
The trailer attracted 7.6M views in just 11 hours, but relieved 214K dislikes on Marvel Entertainment’s YouTube channel, compared to 318K likes.
Two days after the trailer dropped, it now has 379K dislikes.
In the lead-up to Captain Marvel’s release in 2019, where fans took to Rotten Tomatoes to leave negative reviews to make the audience score drop. As of April 2023, the audience score now sits at a mediocre 45 percent.

For some strange reason, a subset of MCU fans really dislike Brie Larson. They have since decided to take their anger out by review bombing Captain Marvel and unfortunately, the fate of The Marvels was written on the wall before the trailer was released.
With that said, the number of fans who go out of their way to dislike and review-bomb Larson-related projects make up a small number. The 2019 superhero flick grossed $1.131 billion and was granted a sequel.
The Marvels hits theatres 10 November, 2023.
