he’ll be departing the acclaimed series.
But the 39-year-old welcomed his replacement in a warm Instagram post shared on Saturday (30 October).
“Some news to share from The Continent,” his rather ominous post began. “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4.

“In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.
“As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam's take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men."
Cavill signed off with another shout out to his successor, writing: “Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find.”

The White Wolf also won't feature in the four-part prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, ,which drops on Christmas Day, as it takes place 1,200 years before the main series begins.
Hemsworth said that he feels ‘honoured’ to play Geralt of Rivia and also happens to be a big Henry Cavill fan.
“As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” the 32-year-old wrote on Instagram.
“Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.

“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into The Witcher world.”
Earlier this week, the Man of Steel actor confirmed he will return to the big screen as Superman after fans spotted his surprise cameo at the end of Black Adam.
“A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends,” Cavill said in an Instagram post on Monday (24 October). “The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.”
"I wanted to make it official that I am back as Superman," he said in the accompanying video.
