Timothée Chalamet took his co-star Zendaya by surprise with a shockingly profound answer to a simple interview question.
Chalamet and Zendaya starred alongside one another in Dune back in 2021, and both won plaudits for their performances.
To be fair, the film was received enormously well, earning recognition through 10 Oscar nominations, eventually winning six.
There was an absolutely huge cast for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi remake, with Chalamet and Zendaya joined by the likes of Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Rebecca Ferguson, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, and Javier Bardem.

And that's not even all of them.
Anyway, that’s not what we’re here to talk about, the film came out a while ago, so you’ve probably seen it.
What you might not have seen at the time was the interview that featured Chalamet and Zendaya, when the 27-year-old – younger still at the time – took Zendaya completely by surprise with his answer to a question about faith.

Chalamet was asked whether he believes in destiny, fate, and all of that stuff, which is a fairly big question for a simple press junket interview.
However, his answer didn’t disappoint, suggesting that the Call Me by Your Name star has thought about it quite a bit.
Looking deadly serious, Chalamet responded: “You could be the master of your fate,
“You could be the captain of your soul.

“But you have to realize that life is coming from you and not at you, and that takes time.”
Bloody hell, that’s a grown-up thought, isn’t it?
Many of us are significantly older than him and haven’t considered that.
On the other hand, it could be a little bit of a meaningless platitude, but it seems as if some people were impressed, anyway.

And one of them was Zendaya, who was sitting right next to him.
She sat right back up in her chair and stared at her co-star.
“OK!” she said.

“OK, answer!” she blurted out, laughing incredulously.
The clip was viewed a whole bunch of times on Twitter, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube, so it’s no doubt been viewed almost a billion times by now.
Retweeting it at the time, Oscar-nominated director Ava DuVernay said: “I thoroughly enjoyed DUNE,
“The vision and verve of Denis is at its height.
“Was enthralled by it. Know what else I’m enthralled by? These two on press tour.
“Giving us globe-trotting fashion, fun and now, deep thoughts and this perfect reaction.”
She concluded: “The kids are alright.”
