Speaking in a round-table interview published by Deadline, Holland revealed that even he had been surprised by the sheer level of excitement surrounding the movie, saying, 'I always knew that this film would be loved around the world. I didn’t think it would be quite as massive as it has been.'
Holland also revealed that he's been lurking online to watch videos of fan reactions to the appearance of Garfield and Maguire, saying, 'I don’t think I could ever have imagined it as being so well received by everyone.'
Both Garfield and Maguire revealed that they agreed to sign up for the movie without knowing too much about the plot, with Maguire saying he was convinced after having a meeting with the film's producers, Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal, praising their 'authentic, genuine intent of celebration and love' for the character.
'I was just waiting to see if Tobey was going to do it, and if Tobey was going to do it, then I was like, 'Well, I have no choice',' Garfield joked.

The trio also acknowledged that returning to their characters together had proved an 'emotional' experience, with Holland revealing that he went in to the movie unsure whether it would be the last time he played Spider-Man. 'A lot of that emotion came from the act of saying goodbye,' he said. 'But this film also felt like a celebration of three generations of cinema.'
'I love the destiny feeling of the multiverse expanding in this film, and actually, without Tobey’s Peter and Andrew’s Peter being present for Tom’s Peter at this very moment, he may not become the Peter Parker that he’s supposed to become,' Garfield said.
'I was just grateful every day. Really, it was such a rich experience and, as the guys have touched on, the kind of sharing of something and the brotherhood of it,' Maguire added.
