The fourth season of hit Netflix show You is out and fan reaction hasn't been as glowing as it used to be.
Shows adapt and become something different to what they started out as all the time, but there's always a risk when it comes to shaking up the formula that fans aren't going to enjoy what they get.
Season four of Netflix series You has shifted tone a bit, switching to more of a murder-mystery setting as Joe (Penn Badgley) is living under a pseudonym with a new life in London.

It's no surprise he's trying to fly under the radar after everything that went down in season three, but Joe's cover of being a professor appears to have been blown after he gets messages from a mysterious person and the bodies start piling up.
While it would normally be Joe who did the killings, this time it's someone else who seems to know exactly who he is and is playing games with him.
It sounds like a pretty thrilling premise, but You fans have not been enjoying what they've been seeing of season four thus far.

One person branded season four as 'very disappointing' and slammed it as a 'yawn fest' that couldn't compare to the 'brilliant' previous seasons.
Another said they were 'disappointed but will stick with it' in the hopes of things getting better, while someone else complained that it left them 'very bored' and were 'not liking this one much'.
Others called it a 'snoozefest' and said they were 'really not feeling it in the way I did the other seasons', explaining that they were 'dipping in and out of my socials while it's on'.
Somebody simply said they 'expected more', which is pretty damning.

On top of that, other fans have been poking holes in the ridiculousness of some of the behind the scenes details in the show.
First off there's the gargantuan size and cost of Joe's London apartment, which is far beyond what he could ever hope to afford on a teacher's salary.
Then there's the insane distance between where he lives and works, which he walks in the show even though it would be a six hour hike in real life.

If fans are concentrating on these details it's often a bit of a bad sign since they should be focusing on the drama, mystery and dead bodies.
Meanwhile, lead star Badgley has suggested we're closer to the end of You after explaining that he's only signed up to do so many years.
All things have to come to an end, even You can't go on forever.
You Season Four Part 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Part 2 arrives on 9 March.
