Demi Lovato has revealed the inspiration behind her smash-hit 'Cool for the Summer'.
Lovato recently sat down with Howard Stern on his SiriusXM talk show on Monday (11 September) to promote her upcoming remix album Revamped.
Opening up about their discography, the 'Heart Attack' star delved into what inspired behind 'Cool For The Summer', which was first released back in 2015, and revealed the track was actually about her hooking up with a famous woman.

The pair discussed a whole load of different topics including her acting career and evolution as a musician, struggles with substance abuse and relationship age-gaps.
Talking of the song, Lovato told Stern: "I actually released it before I came out as bisexual."
"When I came out, my dad was like, 'Yeah, you have a song called 'Cool for the Summer'," she added.
Lyrics in the track include Lovato saying she had 'a taste for the cherry'.

She also sings: "Don't be scared, 'cause I'm your body type / Just something that we wanna try."
The Camp Rock star went on to say her relationship with the mystery woman was 'never public' before explaining: "Sometimes I write songs and I just leave them, let them be."
When Stern asked whether she would ever admit who the muse was - or whether she would ever tell the woman who inspired the song - Lovato declined before bringing up her current relationship with fellow musician, Jutes, 32.

"I’m in a relationship now and I feel like that would be inappropriate," she said. "I missed the moment. Should've said it back then."
She did admit, however, that she was somewhat apprehensive at the time before she released the song now eight years ago.
Lovato said she 'wasn't afraid' of it affecting her career in the biz but she did note: "It was more so like coming to terms with it myself — I didn’t actually come out as bisexual until I was 24 or 25.

"I think coming from a Christian household made me nervous for that."
Elsewhere in the interview, Lovato opened up about her previous romantic relationships.
She told Stern: "I think what I went through is I had a phase of dating older men and dating older guys because of my daddy issues, obviously. And now I'm at a place where I'm in an amazing relationship.
"I can say with confidence that my daddy issues aren’t anything that are inside of me anymore, and I think there’s a few signs to that. I look back on the past and think, 'That’s gross'."

The 31-year-old singer re-adopted she/her pronouns back in 2022 after coming out as non-binary in May 2021 after saying that educating people on they/them pronouns was 'absolutely exhausting'.
