Doja Cat has blasted her fans for using a nickname to refer to her fanbase.
Much like how Taylor Swift has the Swifties, Ariana Grande has the Arianators and Lady Gaga has her Little Monsters, fans of Doja Cat have dubbed themselves ‘Kittenz’.
However, the Grammy Award winner has come out against the name in a now-deleted post on Threads.

She said: "My fans don’t name themselves s**t.
“If you call yourself a 'kitten' or f**king 'kittenz' that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house.”
In response to her statement, one of her fan accounts, named ‘The Kittenz Web’ asked the rapper what name she would prefer instead.

“Just delete the entire account and rethink everything,” she responded. “It’s never too late.”
Many fans have been left feeling frustrated and disheartened by Doja Cat’s actions.
“Imagine telling your fans to get a job when they are the ones that buy your music, merch and concert tickets,” one fan took to Twitter to say.
Another asked on Threads if she could tell her fans that she loves them but Doja Cat replied saying: “I don’t though cuz I don't even know y’all.”

More fans chimed in, with one fan replying: “And we don't know you. But we have supported you through thick and thin. Mind you, you’d be nothing without us.”
But Doja wasn't done. She said: “Nobody forced you. IDK why you’re talking to me like you’re my mother.”
“You sound like a crazy person.”

Doja Cat has since deleted the Threads and deactivated her entire account.
The news comes after Doja Cat has been accused of blocking fans that have called out her current relationship with Twitch streamer J Cyrus.
“I DONT GIVE A F**K WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT MY PERSONAL LIFE,” she wrote in an instagram comment.
“I NEVER HAVE AND NEVER WILL GIVE A F**K WHAT YOU THINK ABOUT ME OR MY PERSONAL LIFE.”

Key Doja Cat fan pages like Doja HQ, The Kittens Room and Doja Cat News have all deactivated their Twitter accounts amidst the backlash.
Doja Cat is expected to release her fourth studio album later this year, which will steer away from the pop music she has previously released and draw more from hip-hop and R&B.
