Orlando Bloom was there to support fiancée Katy Perry at last night's VMAs, but eagle-eyed viewers spotted a slightly awkward moment during the 'I Kissed A Girl' singer's performance.
Perry received one of the VMAs highest accolades at the star-studded affair yesterday (September 11); its MTV Video Vanguard Award, joining the likes of Nicki Minaj, Shakira, Missy Elliott and Jennifer Lopez to have won the lifetime achievement award.
She was given the award by her Lord of The Rings star, who gave a heartfelt speech about Perry beforehand.

“You fell in love with her as Katy Perry. I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson," he began.
"You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light, and her unique sense of humor to every song she writes and music video she creates.
"I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same love and joy to our family."

Bloom then ended the speech by saying: "Congratulations on this honor, baby."
But before receiving the prestigious award from her beau, Perry performed a medley of some of her hit songs including 'I Kissed a Girl', 'Teenage Dream' and 'E.T' - as well as her upcoming single 'I Am His, He His Mine'.
While on stage, the cameras panned to Bloom in the crowd and viewers were quick to spot the actor attempting to recite the lyrics.
Noting this, one person penned on Twitter: "Every cut to Orlando Bloom makes it seem like this is the first time he’s heard a Katy Perry song."

"Orlando Bloom has never heard a single Katy Perry song," suggested another.
A third continued: "Orlando Bloom is reacting to this performance as if he’s never heard a single Katy Perry song before what is going on #VMAs."
But someone else applauded Bloom for showing up for his fiancée (even if he doesn't know all the lyrics to her songs like the back of his hand).
"Orlando Bloom has never heard a Katy Perry song in his life, but good for him for supporting her," they wrote.

In Bloom's defense, Perry does have six albums and over 40 singles to her name, so it's understandable if he doesn't know every lyric to every song.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star is also nearing 50 and I think we can all agree that Perry's music isn't exactly targeted to that age bracket.
A+ for effort, Orlando!
