Fans find secret message in Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss after playing it in reverse

Fans find secret message in Kendrick Lamar’s Drake diss after playing it in reverse

Fans think Lamar's new track 'Euphoria' is absolutely packed to the brim with references to Drake

Fans think they've found yet another diss thrown in Drake's direction after listening to the intro of Kendrick Lamar's latest track in reverse.

Lamar wasted very little time in responding to Drake amid their ongoing feud, dropping his song 'Euphoria' just a couple of weeks after Drake released 'Push Ups'.

Both diss tracks come after Lamar's earlier release, 'Like That', first called out Drake, and things only seem to have heated up since then.

'Euphoria' is packed to the brim with lyrics which fans believe to reference Drake, and even the title is thought to be a nod to Drake's position as an executive producer on the TV show Euphoria.

At one point in the song, Lamar makes reference to Drake's nickname 'The Boy' as he says: "I’m knowin’ they call you The Boy, but where is a man? ‘Cause I ain’t see him yet."

You could spend hours dissecting every lyric Lamar throws out in the track, but one particular part that's caught people's attention comes right at the very start.

The song opens with a vocal sample which is played in reverse, so it doesn't make sense until you rewind the track.

Listeners have been kind enough to share the right-way-round version of the song online, and it's been identified as a sample taken from the 1978 musical film The Wiz - an adaptation of The Wizard of Oz.

The movie features Richard Pryor as the Wiz, who gets exposed at the end of the movie as a washed-up politician.

In the clip, he says: “Everything they say about me is true! I’m a phony!”

So, what does this have to do with Drake?

Well, fans reckon the sample is intended to imply Drake himself is a phony.

His multiple Grammy awards, millions of streams and multiple Number 1 hits might disagree, but that hasn't stopped people leaning into the speculation.

"This is from The Wiz when they realize the wizard is a phony .. this is Richard Pryors line in that scene when he says “I’m a phony i got no powers” Ayoooooo….," one person wrote.

Another commented: "This is hilarious," as a third added: "The f**king LAYERS ON LAYERS ON LAYERS on this diss track is insane."

It took around three weeks for Drake to respond to Lamar's previous diss track, so I guess the countdown is on to see what he comes back with this time!
