Gill’s mother told ABC7 she now plans to raise her surviving grandchild
"She’s beautiful," the grandmother told ABC7 on the condition of anonymity. "I went to go see her last night, and she’s just gorgeous."
She revealed the baby was doing 'a little bit better' one day after her premature birth.
A GoFundMe page has been set up for the baby.
The fundraiser page says she was not struck by a bullet in the brazen daylight attack.
The young mother's death was one of four killings in the American capital last week, The Washington Post reported.
Gill's mother added to ABC7: "I just really hope they catch whoever did that to my daughter."
The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a USD$25,000 (AUD$36,500, £19,500) reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the fatal shooting of Samya Gill.
