Austin Powers Cast Reunite As Dr Evil Finally Becomes A Grandad In Super Bowl Commercial

The villains of Austin Powers have reunited for a Super Bowl commercial

The cast of Austin Powers have reunited in a Super Bowl ad that has fans screaming 'Yeah, Baby!'

That's right, everyone's favourite villains are back in the General Motors advert that sees Dr. Evil and co team up to... Fight climate change!

Check it out:

Yeah, we didn't see that one coming either, but the ad does see Mike Myers, Seth Green, Rob Lowe and Mindy Sterling get back together, so we'll take it.

The premise of the clip is that Dr Evil first needs to save the world from climate change if he has any hope of taking it over.

The clip begins with Dr Evil proclaiming 'ladies and gentleman, our takeover of General Motors is complete'.

The super villain then gets into a spat with his son, Scott, who suggests the evil crew should help 'reduce tail pipe emissions'.

Understandably for a man whose name is Dr Evil, he's not keen on doing good for the planet. But, as Scott explains 'climate change is arguably the number-one threat to the world now'.

Dr Evil's henchman, Number Two, explains that Dr Evil is now 'the number-two threat to the world', before Dr Evil resolves to use General Motors' new electric cars to 'help the planet'.

Green spoke about reprising his role of Scott in a statement acquired by Variety. 'It really does feel like the band that has been playing together for 30 years. Austin Powers is still one of the most globally recognised things I've done. There is a fan base for it'.

Deborah Wahl, General Motors' global chief marketing officer, also spoke about the commercial, explaining: 'We are using climate change as the enemy'.

She added: 'A large majority of first movers and the younger population, this is very much in line with their purpose and their vision, and they are very concerned about climate change overall'.

Either way, it's sure to make a splash when aired during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 13.

Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery came out in 1997 and has since reached cult-movie status, with two follow ups; The Spy Who Shagged Me and Goldmember that were released in 1999 and 2002 respectively.
