A woman who's been accused of sending 'poisoned Easter eggs' to her former partner's family allegedly tried to kill her ex-boyfriend's new lover before, police say.
On Monday (April 21) it was reported that Jordélia Pereira Barbosa, from Brazil, was detained on suspicion of poisoning chocolate eggs to her ex's new girlfriend, Mirian Lira's, family that left two people in critical condition and killed a seven-year-old boy.
The 35-year-old was arrested in the Brazilian state of Maranhão last week, and is accused of purchasing, spiking and sending the chocolate eggs to Lira and her family as an 'act of revenge' - with a note allegedly attached to the eggs reading: "With love, to Mirian Lira. Happy Easter."

According to authorities, Lira shared the chocolate with her children upon receiving the eggs, leading her son to fall 'severely ill'.
He died just hours after arriving at Imperatriz City Hospital.
Meanwhile, Lira and her 13-year-old daughter remain in critical condition in the same hospital, with both said to be intubated, according to reports.

A cause of death for the boy is still being determined as the chocolate is being investigated by forensic analysts for possible poison.
However, authorities claim that this isn't the first time Barbosa has attempted to take Lira's life.

Imperatriz reports that Barbosa allegedly went to Lira’s workplace to offer chocolate tasters to employees there, but she was turned away when she was unable to provide details as to who she worked for.
Authorities say Barbosa then headed to the parking lot in an attempt to hand out the chocolates, but Lira was apparently nowhere to be seen, the outlet further reports.
It did not go on to state whether any of Lira's colleagues were harmed in the alleged incident.

Maranhão Civil Police caught Barbosa while she was on a bus going to her home in Santa Inês on Thursday, with a shopping receipt that indicated she'd purchased the easter eggs also being found.
As well as the receipt, police also found two wigs, scissors, cards, a saw knife and unknown substances in her possession - with CCTV footage showing her wearing one of the wigs while buying the chocolate at the supermarket.
Barbosa admitted that she had bought the eggs in the run up to Easter Sunday, but told police that she hadn't poisoned them.
According to People Magazine, the charges that Barbosa will be facing hasn't been made clear.

Maurício Martins, a security official in Brazil, told the Standard that the alleged poisoning 'was motivated by revenge and jealousy.'
He wrote: "There are several indications that clearly point to this woman being the perpetrator of the crime. The police will continue working to strengthen this evidence and present her to the Judiciary to answer for this barbaric crime."
