An answer has finally been revealed, almost three years after the murders of four Idaho students.

On November 13, 2022, Bryan Kohberger snuck his way into the student residence at 1122 King Road in Moscow, Idaho, and killed four friends while they slept.

Kaylee Goncalves, 21, Madison Mogen, 21, Xana Kernodle, 20 and Ethan Chapin, 20, were later found dead. However, the other two roommates, Dylan Mortensen and Bethany Funke, were left alive and apparently unaware of what was happening in the home at the time.

A tell-all four-part Amazon docuseries - called One Night in Idaho: The College Murders - was recently released, in which the friends and family of the victims spoke about what happened in the aftermath of the tragedy.

The doc revealed all to viewers, from the police force who were dealing with more than they could handle, and what seemed like limited leads to go on, to the harassment the survivors were put through.

One Night in Idaho: The College Murders also answered a question that was on many people’s minds when they heard about the details of how the bodies of the four pals were found.

Through first-hand accounts, the documentary revealed that the young 20-somethings went through a lot of trauma when discovering their friends.

Hunter Johnson, a friend of Ethan, was called by Mortensen, who told him and Emily Alandt that she had heard strange noises that night and wanted him to check.

With little information about what he’d find, he walked directly into the bloody crime scene where he saw Xana and boyfriend Ethan stabbed to death.

He then called 911, which was then described as finding an ‘unconscious individual’ in the property.

This description had many puzzled, as well as some even pointing to Hunter as the alleged murderer.

However, when police arrived, they found four murdered students.

Internet self-proclaimed investigators appeared to point the finger at Hunter, claiming that he was the prime suspect in the crime.

But in the documentary, friends recalled how Johnson saved the rest of them from 'extreme trauma' by keeping the gory details to himself and making them leave the home while he notified police.

According to those in the series, he said the bodies were 'unconscious' in an attempt to protect his female friends from seeing the gore he had witnessed.

One viewer explained on Reddit: “HJ was the one who found Xana and it seems that he stopped the surviving roommates from seeing what he had seen.

“I used to be a 911 dispatcher and I could write a book about why it doesn’t surprise me at all that they initially said she was just unconscious.

“It’s very common for death calls, even when there are clear signs of death or murder.

“You have to understand that people calling 911 for a death are actively going through a severe trauma.”

Hunter said: “It felt like a movie, people thinking we were murderers.”

Kohberger was later charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary in connection with their deaths and pleaded guilty to murder on July 2, which spared him the death penalty.

His sentencing is scheduled for July 23.
