A detective was left taken aback by a man's 'straightforward' admission to killing his wife and her parents.
In March 2021, Jesse Huy's wife Tonya Huy and her mother and step-father, Linda and Ronald Koehler, were round at the couple's home in Strafford, Missouri.
Apparently Huy's in-laws had overstayed their welcome, which caused him to allegedly lose his temper and shoot them all.

Tonya's parents had been there to help her recover from back surgery that she'd had a week prior, but eventually Huy 'felt intruded on' and 'disrespected' after their visit dragged on a whole week, he alleged, as per court documents seen by PEOPLE.
Huy had actually called 911 on himself and upon being taken into custody, he was very straight-up with the detective who was questioning him.
"I shot my wife and her mom and her step-dad [in] cold blooded murder this afternoon," he was heard saying in CCTV footage taken in the interview room.

"Shot them each twice in the head."
The detective replied: "Well, that's about as straightforward as it gets. I'll go ahead and ask you why you'd do that, Jesse?"
Huy proceeded to explain that he'd allegedly 'lost his temper' and that his in-laws had decided to come to Missouri to see Tonya following her surgery.

He went on to claim that he didn't see eye-to-eye with his mother-in-law in particular and actively avoided spending time with her.
In terms of them turning up unannounced, apparently this wasn't the first time Huy's in-laws had done it.
As to why he shot his wife, he claimed that she'd often side with her parents if he expressed his dislike of the things they'd do.
According to Law & Crime, he said: “So I went outside. I got my gun. I walked back in. I shot them all in the head. Then I shot them all in the head again to make sure they were down."
Investigators also said that Huy went on to urge the detective to ask that he wasn't put with anyone else while in a cell, WVLT reported.

"Now that I've just murdered three people, I ain't got nothing holding me back," he said.
According to PEOPLE, Huy was supposed to face trial in October 2023, however, he changed his plea to guilty and was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder.
In January 2023, Huy was also ordered to serve three consecutive terms of life in prison without the possibility of parole and nine years for armed criminal action.
Huy's attorneys said they had no plans to appeal his conviction at the time.
