Morgan Geyser, one of the two students charged with the stabbing of a classmate in 2014, escaped custody after 'cutting off her monitoring tag'.

In 2014, Geyser and Anissa Weier attacked their classmate Payton Leutner and stabbed her 19 times.

They allegedly carried out the attack to 'please' Slender Man — a fictional character created in 2009 by Eric Knudsen.

The two students lured Leutner into the woods in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where they carried out the attack.

Miraculously, Leutner survived the ordeal. She needed a six hour-long surgery to save her.

Geyser and Weier went on to be charged in adult court with first-degree attempted intentional homicide, but they each received different sentences for the crime.

Geyser, now 23, was convicted of the charges but found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.

She was sentenced to up to 40 years in a psychiatric institution but in January, she was released under supervision.

Months on from her release and police say that Geyser 'cut off' her monitoring bracelet and escaped.

In a Facebook post shared yesterday (November 23), the Madison Police Department said: "Officers are searching for a woman who cut off her Department of Corrections monitoring bracelet and left a group home Saturday night.

"Morgan Geyser was last seen in the area of Kroncke Dr. around 8 p.m. with an adult acquaintance. Her whereabouts are unknown as of Sunday morning.

"The Madison Police Department was notified of her disappearance Sunday morning."

If people saw her, they were urged to call 911.

Geyser's mother, Angie Geyser, also issued a plea to her daughter to come home. She said in a statement to ABC News: "If you see Morgan, please call the police. Morgan, if you can see this, we love you and just want to know you are safe."

Leutner's family also issued a statement to the news outlet and assured people that she and her family were safe.

"The family would like to thank all of the law enforcement entities involved in the efforts to apprehend Morgan," the statement continued. "The Leutner family also wish to thank the outpouring of support from family, friends, and well-wishers who have contacted them during this difficult time."

Fortunately, the 23-year-old has since been located. Posen Police said she was found yesterday evening at a Thornton's truck stop with another person.

Geyser and the other unnamed individual reportedly took a bus to Posen, located around 25 minutes south of Chicago.

Both Geyser and the other person were taken into custody around 10:34 pm, police confirmed.

UNILAD has contacted the Madison Police Department and the Posen Police Department for further comment.
