What could be better than travelling the world from the comfort of your own home? Not a lot, to be honest.
For some dwellers, that could soon become a reality as a luxury cruise ship that’s set to launch soon will allow travellers to permanently live at sea.
Setting sail on its first residential cruise ship in 2025, Storylines will offer those with a touch of wanderlust the chance to ‘rediscover their deep passion for exploration while still maintaining work/life obligations’.

Those that agree to spend the better part of a 24-month lease on board MV Narrative will get their pick of 547 residences and a wide range of amenities, including 20 all-inclusive restaurants and bars, three swimming pools, a bowling alley, an arcade, and a fitness and spa centre.
With the ship exploring destinations which would likely include Rome and Naples, Italy, Santorini, Greece and Split, Croatia, cruise ship inhabitants can decide whether they’d like to treat their new purchase as a floating holiday home, or a year-round house to live on the water permanently.
Those boarding MV Narrative for a new shot at home life will be greeted with three to five days in most ports that the ship visits, according to a USA Today interview with CEO Alister Punton.

This means that no matter your work schedule, you’ll be able to make time to visit your new favourite city.
Before you assume that this kind of travel lifestyle would only suit those living a child-free or retired lifestyle, think again. The ship even boasts a youth education programme, titled World Schooling, to teach youngsters between Kindergarten (age five to six) and 12th Grade (age 17 to 18).
These sea apartments, if you will, offer one to four bedrooms, with many layouts showcasing a balcony so you can step out onto your stunning sea view each morning. Meanwhile, the interior caters for those who’d like to live in either a ‘coastal or contemporary interior design style’, as per Storylines’ press release.

But of course, living in the lap of luxury comes with a price tag. For a unit across the ship’s lifetime, you’re looking at a home priced between $1 and $8 million (£860,000 and £6 million), according to the website.
Sea dwellers also need to pay all-inclusive fees which start at $61,564 (£52,988) and pays for most of the meals on board, housekeeping, Wi-Fi, a laundry service, tips and more for those staying on board.
