A DoorDash driver has sparked outrage as she refused to give a customer their food after she only received an $8 (£6) tip.

While many workers in the service industry would be delighted by the higher-than-average tip, the driver is furious and refuses to accept the sum.

Her entire outburst was even caught on the customer’s Ring doorbell camera, with the video now going viral on social media.

Gaining over one million views on YouTube when it was first shared back in 2021, the angry woman refuses to leave the property, demanding to speak to the customer face to face.

It’s after she claimed that she’d travelled 12 and a half miles to deliver the food, with the pair arguing over her alleged 40-minute journey from Commack, Long Island to Smith Town.

You can even hear the customer’s shock as the woman furiously rings the bell and tells him that she ‘actually’ needs to speak to him.

With no hesitation, she then tells him that he ‘must not have realized’ how far she travelled as she insists he ups the price.

When the customer says the trip should have taken no more than 15-20 minutes, she continues to harass them, saying: "I think you need to adjust your tip to make it right."

In a toe-curl moment, he refuses and reiterates that he’s given her an additional $8 dollars, which only angers her more.

She snatches the delivery and walks away, telling the man: "I'm gonna bring the food back! I'm gonna bring the food back."

Her outrageous outburst has shocked many in the service industry, who are used to getting just 15 percent or less as a tip.

While it is common practise in the US give generous tips, it’s still not guaranteed, with many workers saying she should be grateful for the tip.

She continues to harass the customer when she didn't get her way.

One irate worker on YouTube wrote: “The fact that she felt so entitled as to stand there and argue with him is fascinating. You do realize you can accept or decline delivery jobs right? If you didn't realize the distance, maybe you should be more observant while doing your job.”

Another added: "She’s insane. Tips are optional. If you don’t like it then get a side hustle that doesn’t deal with tips.”

They also pointed out that the customer would be reimbursed for the inconvenience he’d experienced, while the driver would lose the tip, her fee and use additional petrol just to return the food.

While it’s unclear what happened to the woman immediately after the incident, DoorDash did release a statement about the viral video.

A spokesperson for the brand said at the time: "We take the safety of our community extremely seriously, and such inappropriate behavior is never tolerated on the DoorDash platform."

They added: "Any behavior that violates this zero-tolerance policy is grounds for deactivation, and the Dasher involved has been removed from our platform. We have been in touch with the customer to offer support, and sincerely regret that this incident fell short of the experience we strive to provide every day."
