Elon Musk appears to be adding blue ticks to the Twitter accounts of dead celebrities.

Yes, in his latest attempt to make Twitter Blue happen, Musk seems to have taken it upon himself to subscribe celebrities like Kobe Bryant, Chadwick Boseman, Anthony Bourdain, and Paul Walker to the membership.

Just days after thousands of celebrity accounts lost their legacy-verified check mark, it has reappeared for some deceased stars, implying that they are 'subscribed to Twitter Blue and verified their phone number'.

Deceased celebrities like Kobe Bryant have got blue ticks again, which say they've subscribed to Twitter Blue.

This comes shortly after Musk pulled a totally awesome prank and decided to sign up unwilling A-listers like Stephen King, LeBron James, and William Shatner to Twitter Blue.

The billionaire revealed that he had decided to fund a few accounts himself, which didn't go down well with the few who had actually decided to pay the $8 per month for Twitter Blue.

In an attempt to get people on board with the subscription, Musk orchestrated the removal of tens of thousands of verification ticks on 20 April, but what he didn't account for was that most celebrities were quite happy to let their blue tick go.

Within a day or two, other stars like Sir Ian McKellen, Ricky Gervais, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend suddenly got their blue ticks back, despite insisting that they didn't pay for Musk's subscription.

The once coveted blue checkmark has suddenly become a mark of shame for celebrities, who want would rather not be associated with the Tesla founder.

In fact, some have been trying to find loopholes to remove the tick that suddenly reappeared on their profile.

Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker realised that if you change your name on your profile, and change it back again, the blue tick seems to disappear - which is now the goal.

Dealing with a slightly different conundrum, comedian Dara Ó Briain has found himself with an involuntary checkmark, even though he had never had one before the great verification purge.

"I wake up this morning to find I have been given one. That is peculiar," Ó Briain wrote.

Late stars like Chadwick Boseman lost their legacy verification, but inexplicably gained a Twitter Blue tick.

"No, I haven’t paid, nor requested it. Can I get into nightclubs now?"

Musk has not yet commented on this latest move to add Twitter Blue verifications to the accounts of dead celebrities.

UNILAD approached Twitter for a comment, but was met with a poop emoji.

Another totally awesome prank from number one troll Elon Musk.
