People are hitting out at the price of deliveries and the extra 'hidden costs' they face with their order.
Everyone loves to order a takeout here and there, but people are finding that a large chunk of their final fee isn't actually for the food itself - or the tip going to the person delivering it.
As of last year, it was reported that Americans spend around $1,850 a year on food deliveries, 36 percent of which goes on delivery and service fees, as well as tips.

According to Circuit, Postmates had the most 'hidden fees', with its users finding that nearly half of what they were paying went on this.
On average, customers have been spending an extra $13 per order on these costs.
Now, in a recent thread on Reddit, one person shared a screenshot of the extra costs they were facing - which ultimately made them decide to ditch the order all together.

Their subtotal was $5.55, but there was a delivery fee on top of this ($2.99), a service fee ($0.56), a small order fee ($3.50), sales tax ($1.54) and then a $2 tip added for the driver.
"Thought about getting delivery. Never mind," the Redditor captioned the grab.
And people in the thread agreed that the added prices were ridiculous.
"The most f**ked up part is the sales tax of $1.54 on a $5.55 food," fumed one person.

"This is why we stopped doing DoorDash/Uber Eats. Fees just got too damn high," said another.
A third went on to point out: "Small order fee almost as much as the food itself."
"And they wonder why people don’t like tipping for these services," added another.

Elsewhere someone else noted that a very small amount actually goes to the driver.
One person wrote: "The drivers actually don’t get paid that much, my mom does DoorDash and usually the app only pays $2.50 (USD), she mostly relies on tips."
Another said: "I’m guessing it’s because there are THREE fees before you even get to the tip. And none of those fees actually go to the driver."
"I’d rather pay more to the driver for delivering with their own car and gas than pay fees that just go to a greedy company," they added.

Tipping delivery drivers has long been a debate, with one DoorDash driver hitting out at a customer for only giving them $5 in July.
The total order came to $20.64, with $5 of it being a tip for the delivery person.
But the driver wasn't happy to have only been compensated $5 for a 20 minute ride.
