The popular drink is widely loved as a slightly more fun version of regular boring lemonade.

Let's face it, it's just more fun when the lemonade is pink.
But despite the popularity of the drink, there are any number of theories of what flavour pink lemonade actually is.
It's not like there's a shortage of foods and flavours which could lend a drink a pink hue.
For example, cranberry is a very popular one, and could easily be cut into lemonade.

For those who fancy something a little sweeter there's also strawberry, raspberry, or cherry, all of which work wonderfully in lemonade and would give it that distinctive colour.
Or maybe you're feeling a little more floral, in which case rose would be an obvious choice to give pink lemonade its colour, plus rose lemonade is delicious.
But one theory suggests that it is in fact none of these options, though, of course, all of these are also delicious recipes.
TikTok user @decrepitvibes shared a shocking video where she revealed the truth.

Taking to the social media platform, she said: “Consider my flabbers gasted.
“When I go to look up ‘what is pink lemonade flavor,’ because I know it’s not strawberry. … I guess I just assumed it was pink.”
She went on to joke that she had 'uncovered the scheme of the century'.
So what flavour actually is 'pink lemonade'?

The TikToker said: “It’s just regular lemonade made girly pop with food coloring."
Yes, the theory is that it's literally just a marketing gimmick to change the appearance of the lemonade when there's not any additional flavours.
Well they do say the first bite is with the eyes, or first sip in this case.

People took to the comments with their thoughts on the revelation.
Some insisted that it simply had to be flavoured with something.
One wrote: "no but it tastes different!!" while another echoed the sentiment, saying: "but it taste different".
Meanwhile someone else theorised that it could be a mixture of some being food colouring, while others are flavoured with something else.
They wrote: "Depends on the brand you buy. some are dye, some are strawberry some are raspberry."
Another remarked: "Nooo bc it tastes pink. Different from regular lemonade."
The video in question also dealt specifically with the Minute Maid brand of pink lemonade, which is made using the controversial food colouring Red Dye 40.
