Joe Biden has been called on to take a cognitive test after announcing he would run in the 2024 US Election.
The 80-year-old President officially revealed he would contest the leadership bid next year to be the Democratic candidate.
He announced the move in a video, which showed images of the January 6 insurrection and the US Supreme Court removing abortion rights.

Biden told voters: "When I ran for president four years ago, I said we are in a battle for the soul of America. And we still are.
“The question we are facing is whether in the years ahead we have more freedom or less freedom. More rights or fewer.
“I know what I want the answer to be and I think you do too.

"This is not a time to be complacent. That’s why I’m running for reelection.”
It seems like it was just yesterday that Biden won the election back in 2020 and yet we're already looking at another one next year.
It will be a hotly contested election and it will be interesting to see who Democrats and Republicans choose to battle it out at the ballot box.
However, Congressman Ronny Jackson, who was appointed Assistant to the President and Chief Medical Advisor during Donald Trump's Administration, has requested Biden take a test to prove he's capable of another four years in the White House.

Jackson also served as a White House physician during Trump's and Barack Obama's terms.
In a letter obtained by The New York Post, the Republican said: "We call on you to either resign immediately and renounce your bid for reelection or submit to a clinically validated cognitive screening assessment and make those results available to the public."
He added: "When you first announced your bid to run in the 2020 presidential election, questions and concerns were raised surrounding your cognitive abilities.

“Those concerns have only increased because your mental decline and forgetfulness have become more apparent since you were elected.
“Over the past two years, public appearances where you shuffle your feet, trip when you walk, slur your words, forget names, lose your train of thought, and appear momentarily confused have become more of a common occurrence."
This isn't the first time Congressman Jackson has asked President Biden to undertake a cognitive test.
He made a similar request back in June 2021 after Biden had only been in control of the White House for a few months.
