Much of the internet has been left terrified after seeing what a child's skull actually looks like.
You may have noticed a baby's head shape is often uneven; this is because they are born with soft areas on their heads known as fontanels.
On top of that, the skull bones in the soft spots haven't yet grown together, allowing a baby's head to 'to move through the narrow birth canal', according to Mayo Clinic.

The site adds: "They also accommodate a baby's rapidly growing brain during infancy. A newborn's head that is shaped unevenly right after birth often rounds out over time.
"In other cases, a baby's head shape changes after birth. This is a result of pressure on the head when the baby lies in the same position often."
The discussion around a child's head, or in particular, skull, has made its way over to Reddit - leaving the majority of the site's users in horror.

"Every child’s jaws are packed with teeth, but we don’t think about them until they start to 'erupt' in the gums," the Redditor who posted the image said.
The snap shows an unprecedented number of teeth in the gums in the child's jaw, and to be honest, it's certainly off-putting.
Many have flocked to the comments section of the Reddit post, where some further light was lifted on the situation.
One person penned: "To those asking if this is real - my dentist took X-rays when I was 6 years old and showed me the images, which showed exactly this, all my adult teeth waiting underneath. As a 6-year-old I found it fascinating.

"There was a time in my life I wanted to be a dentist when I grew up."
A second added: "Welp, I'm hiding this post. This s**t makes me uncomfortable as f**k to look at and I'm not sure why."
Meanwhile, a third quipped: "Sure, it looks creepy with its double row of teeth, but if you think about it, it's really just a perfectly normal skull of a dead child," and a fourth remarked: "Yup, one of the many horrors found in human body."

While it's not been confirmed how old the child whose skull this is, many in the comments section speculated the child was likely around the 6-8 age range.
