A pharmacist has explained why there are three supplements she 'would never take' which 'you're going to be surprised' about.
It's 2024 and suddenly everyone you know has gotten into running, stockpiling greens powders and becoming the healthiest versions of themselves - or at least doing this so then going out and getting wasted every weekend feels slightly more acceptable.
However, if you've been popping certain types of supplements every day like there's no tomorrow, convincing yourself you treat your body like a temple, it turns out there's three types which may not actually be doing as much for your health as you think.

The three overhyped supplements
Pharmacist Amina, who shares tips and advice to TikTok, took to her page earlier in the year to reveal the 'three supplements' she 'would never take as a pharmacist'.
And first up to get slated? Well, wave goodbye to your 'gummy vitamins' or 'gummy bears'.

Amina explains: "These are basically just a sugar pill, you might as well just go and have a sweet. They are packed with sugar and filler ingredients."
Not only this, but Amina warns gummies can 'very easily' be 'over consumed' which can lead to 'mineral toxicity' in severe cases.
On the other hand, 'some of these gummies don't even have enough nutrients in them to even have an affect on you,' she adds.
So ignore the clever marketing, cute packaging and nice flavors and ditch the gummies.

Next up? 'General multivitamins'.
You think popping one of these you get everything in one pill? Well, it turns out while they do have 'a bit of everything in them' the 'doses of each nutrient are so low they hardly have an effect in you'.
Often coming in with a low price tag too, Amina isn't a fan.

And last but never least, we have the 'skin, hair and nails multivitamins' tablets.
"What do these focus on? Hair, skin or nails? They're not solution focused. The most important vitamins in these are often too low to even have an effect on you," Amina adds.
But what does the pharmacist recommend instead?
Alternate supplement recommendations
Well, she advises: "Traditional capsules and tablets are the best. If you can’t swallow any of these, you can take the powder out of the capsule or crush the tablet and mix with food/drink."

And if you want to go one step better? "Solution focused supplements is what you need to see real results. Best to focus on ingredients that help the actual issue," she advises.
And if you have fussy children, then there's always liquids of spray supplements too.
Be right back while I go chuck out all my different flavored gummies.
