A Vietnamese man who struggled with headaches and loss of vision was almost as shocked as the doctors were when it was revealed he had chopsticks lodged in his brain.
I know, I know. So many questions...
Luckily, that's what I'm here for.
Everything kicked off last week, when the 35-year-old man, who has not been named, was rushed to the emergency room after months of struggling with headaches, poor vision and fluid discharge.

Doctors asked if he had any idea what might be causing his health issues, but the man couldn't think of any explanation.
In a bid to find out what was going on, staff at the Cuba Friendship Hospital in the city of Dong Hoi, Quang Binh province, carried out a CT scan.
According to Vietnam.vn, medics discovered the man was suffering with tension pneumocephalus, a neurosurgical emergency which is usually caused by head trauma.

Upon closer inspection, the doctors discovered an unusual sight in the man's brain - a pair of broken chopsticks, which were penetrating his skull from his nose.
It's hard to believe anyone would be able to walk around with two wooden sticks lodged in their nose, let alone fail to notice them, but evidently it can be done.
Not that you should suddenly start worrying that you've got a chopstick up there next time you've got a blocked nose - it's definitely not a common ocurrence.
After the man's family were made aware of the chopsticks, they expressed belief that they must have got stuck up there when the man was involved in a fight around five months ago.

The injured man was taken to hospital at the time, but there were no abnormalities reported on his nose as doctors failed to spot the broken chopsticks.
When he realized what had been causing his headaches, the patient admitted he didn't remember exactly what happened during the fight, but he did think something had been stabbed into his face.
Looking back with the new evidence in mind, he now believes the man he was fighting must have stuck the chopsticks into his nose during the brawl.

After the bizarre discovery was made, the man underwent a consultation before having an endoscopic surgery through the nose to remove the offending sticks.
He is now in hospital receiving recovery treatment, but is said to be in a stable condition.
Dr Nguyen Van Man, head of the department of neurosurgery at the Vietnamese hospital, said it was a ‘very rare’ case.
I should hope so!
