Surveillance footage of the Uvalde shooting shows the heartbreaking moment a sheriff's deputy with a 10-year-old daughter caught in the shooting is held back.
Two teachers and 19 children were killed in the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
A 77 minute video showed footage of what happened inside the school before law enforcement officers entered the classroom where the shooter was located, it does not contain any images of children.
Watch below:
Among the children killed in the horrific mass shooting was 10-year-old Alexandra Rubio, daughter of Uvalde County sheriff's deputy Felix Rubio.
The heartbreaking security footage, since released by KVUE, shows officers inside the school waiting to breach the classroom.
In it, Felix can be seen being held back and comforted by his colleagues as he rubs his eyes and places his hand over his mouth.
Although off duty at the time, Felix rushed into the school to join his fellow officers when he heard what was happening.
Felix and his wife, Kimberly Mata-Rubio, attended the Texas House hearing and told lawmakers of their part in the awful experience.
He said: "Once I [saw] them open the door and open fire, my heart dropped.
"It sucks whenever you’re in the same field with your baby and you can’t go in there... and go get her."
Kimberly spoke about the last time the couple saw their daughter only hours before the shooting as she had been given an award for being a straight-A student.
She said: "At the conclusion of the ceremony, we took photos with her before asking her to pose for a picture with her teacher, Mr. Reyes. That photo, her last photo ever, was taken at approximately 10:54AM.
"We told her we loved her and we would pick her up after school. I can still see her walking with us towards the exit."
"In the reel that keeps scrolling across my memories, she turns her head and smiles back at us to acknowledge my promise, and then we left. I left my daughter at that school, and that decision will haunt me for the rest of my life"
Police handling the mass shooting have accepted they made the 'wrong decision' by not storming into the classrooms where the shooter was much sooner than they did.
There had been a 40 minute gap of time between the police unit arriving at Robb Elementary School and storming into the classroom.
Alexandria's teacher Arnulfo Reyes slammed the police as 'cowards' for not acting faster to stop the shooter.
