Howard Stern has called out celebrities for their response to an attempted attack on comedian Dave Chappelle during a Los Angeles stand-up show this week.
Chappelle was taking part in 'Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival' in Los Angeles on Tuesday (3 May), when he was charged by an onlooker allegedly carrying a knife and gun.
Now, Stern pointed out that while some famous faces have been quick to express outrage over the fact someone stormed Chappelle’s stage, a similar level of anger was not directed at Will Smith when he walked on stage and slapped Chris Rock during this year’s Academy Awards.

Speaking on his Wednesday show alongside Robin Quivers, Stern said: “Unlike the Academy Awards, Jamie Foxx came running out on stage and helped Dave Chappelle.
“Now here's the point I want to make about this and how f****d up Hollywood is. Some people in the audience at the Academy Awards still should be very ashamed of themselves. I hope they are.”
Stern added, according to MailOnline: “'This guy jumped up on stage and attacked Dave Chappelle. As soon as that happened, did they let him go back to his seat and laugh and sit next to his wife and then give them an award? No! They took him backstage, they broke his arms and hands so bad.”

He went on: “They f*****g beat the s**t out of him. But! At the Academy Awards everyone came over and consoled Will Smith – because it was live television and Hollywood didn't know what to do about Will Smith.”
Stern was alluding to reports that 23-year-old Isaiah Lee was beaten up by security guards following his attempted attack on Chapelle.
Brianna Sacks, a reporter at the show, described how the man 'charged' just as Chappelle's show was coming to an end, after which security 'rushed and started punching and kicking the s*** out of Chappelle's attacker'.

Stern also hit out at Hollywood for giving Smith a standing ovation when he won the Oscar for Best Actor shortly after slapping Rock.
He said: “'Listen! You don't treat Will Smith any different than they did the Chappelle attacker. The audience at the Oscars gave Will Smith a standing ovation after the attack, that's the truth.
“It's on film, it's not fake news. They didn't break Will's hands, they shook them and it's wrong and they all should be ashamed of themselves.”
