A driving instructor has shared dash cam footage of the moment a student failed their test, and the reasons behind it.
Footage of the incident was posted to TikTok by @theyounginstructor, who regularly posts driving videos.
And, while we've all heard of small reasons for people failing their test, this one was pretty shocking.

Check it out below:
The video starts with the young examiner, who was not the examiner in the dash cam footage, explaining what the student had been told to do, saying, 'On this dual-carriage way, the student was asked to follow signs for the hospital.'
He then continues to comment on the footage, highlighting where the learner driver needs to go. The TikToker says: 'So, as you can see at the top of your screen, he needs to get into the left lane.'

'He changes lanes well and notices that there's some joining traffic,' the voiceover states.
While this all seems pretty good so far, the content creator proceeds to point out the driver's mistake.
He adds, 'All he needed to do was to just let go of the gas a little bit, but he decides to try and change lanes and the examiner has to yank the steering wheel to keep him on the left side.'

Why was the examiner yanking on the steering wheel, you might ask?
The young examiner says, 'The driving instructor had to do this because the student failed to check their mirrors before changing lanes and, as you can see, this lorry was in the process of overtaking.'
He then points out the massive lorry that now appears in the shot on the right side of the driver.
As the video continues, the TikToker adds, 'If the examiner wasn't there in this situation the lorry most probably would've gone straight into the back of them, causing a very serious crash.'

Viewers were shocked by the video, with one commenting, 'Just as well they were headed for the hospital,' and another adding 'deserved fail'.
However, others were quick to debate the advice given by the TikToker for the learner to slow down for merging traffic.
One user wrote, 'Highway code states that the joining traffic must alter their speed to join safely, he shouldn’t have tried to change lane but also he shouldn’t slow.'

Another added, 'Wouldn't have tried to move over again, the slip is a give way not do what you want.'
