Violent texts from Johnny Depp to friends in the early days of his relationship with actor Amber Heard have been read out in court.
The messages include outbursts such as 'I will f*** her burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she is dead'.
The texts have been read as part of Johnny Depp's lawsuit against his ex-wife, in which he is suing her for $50 million for allegedly ruining his career by writing in a Washington Post article she was a victim of domestic abuse.

The trial so far has seen Depp claim Heard put a cigarette out on his face after she threw a bottle of vodka at him that severed the top of his finger off.
During a cross examination, Depp was asked to confirm that texts were sent by him at various points during his relationship with Heard.
Some of the texts included messages to Wandavision star Paul Bettany and a contact named in his phone as 'sis', Vice reports.

Texts from 2013 were read out by Heard's attorney J. Benjamin Rottenborn to the court.
Two years before the pair married, Depp texted his friend Paul Bettany writing: "Let's burn Amber!!!"
In another message, he wrote: "Let’s drown her before we burn her!!!"
Heard's attorney said: "You said, ‘will f*** her her [sic] burnt corpse afterwards to make sure she is dead'… and you wrote that about the woman who would later become your wife."

Depp replied: "Yes, I did."
Further texts were read out, including messages from when Heard and Depp were married.
In 2015, Depp texted someone with the contact name 'sis', saying: "I’m alright. Though, I never ever want to lay eyes on that filthy whore Amber."
Heard's attorney then quizzed Depp: "When you called Amber that 'filthy whore', she was your wife at the time, correct?"

Depp confirmed this was true.
Additional messages were read including an exchange from 2014, in which Depp texted: "I’ll smack the ugly c*** around before I let her in."
The actor again confirmed he had sent the text.

The shocking messages from Depp come amid confessions from the actor about his battle with substance abuse, which he referred to as 'a numbing agent'.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star referred to his problem as 'the monster' in texts to Heard as well as others.
Messages to Heard in 2014 before they married revealed Depp saying he'd 'let it get too far'.
In the message which was shared in court, he wrote: "We/I tend to do that. I don't want to be conditioned to continue that behaviour. Therefore I'll put in heavy work with drink.
"I'm sorry for being less… I’m a f***ing savage. I’ve got to lose that… Know that you are right I am well aware that I should have been bigger than the moment, and that it'll never again manifest in negative experiences. It can be done.”
The trial is expected to continue for several weeks.
