The LAPD has issued a city-wide 'tactical alert' after two people were killed and several injured in a shooting on Sunday (24 July).
The LA fire department said at least seven people have been taken to hospital after being injured in a shooting at a park in the San Pedro neighbourhood.
Gunfire erupted near a car show at Peck Park - 20 miles south of LA - towards the end of the weekend, with gun fire first ringing out at around 3.50pm.

According to The Guardian, the incident was not an active shooter situation and officials think two shooters were involved.
Four of the victims were reportedly men and three were women. All of those taken to hospital suffered gun fire injuries and victims’ ages range from 23-54.
The LAPD made the decision to issue a citywide tactical alert Sunday evening as no one was in custody.

The entire park was quickly declared a crime scene and anyone present at the time of the shooting was not allowed to leave until they’d been cleared by police.
CBS LA reporter Laurie Perez was at the scene of the shooting and tweeted on Sunday: “Getting close to Peck Park in San Pedro now…scene of shooting with reported multiple victims. LAPD officer just waved us down and told us to ‘be careful, suspects still outstanding and they’re wearing body armour’.”
The LAPD also tweeted on Sunday: “LAPD News: Around 3:50pm Harbor Div officers responded to 911 calls of a shooting with multiple victims at Peck Park. NOT an active shooter situation. PIO enroute. Unk number or condition of victims at this time. Traffic in the area of Western from First to Pk Western impacted.
“At around 3:45pm, officers received numerous radio calls of a shooting in progress at Peck Park, near the baseball field. Officers responded and located multiple victims. Fire Dept. paramedics transported 7 victims to local hospitals.

“Two of the shooting victims were pronounced deceased, the other 5 victims were being treated for various injuries. Unk number of firearms were located at the scene and will be booked as evidence. Unk at this time how many suspects were involved or if this is a gang related incident.”
UNILAD has approached the LAPD for comment.
Mass shootings have swept the US in recent months, and Sunday’s incident follows high-profile shootings in Illinois, Texas, and New York, prompting many Americans to call for stricter gun legislation.
