A man in Australia has been arrested and charged with murder after allegedly sawing off another man's leg as part of an 'arrangement'.
The victim, a 66-year-old man who hasn't been named, died soon after passers-by found him at Innisfail's Fitzgerald Park in north Queensland early yesterday morning, February 19. He was discovered with his leg amputated, and passed away before emergency services arrived.
The suspect in the incident, a 36-year-old man who also hasn't been identified, has been accused of using a circular saw to remove the other man's leg, but the resulting amputation led to his death.

'Police will allege these two people were known to each other, the extent of that relationship is still forming part of our investigations. Police also believe there was an arrangement between the two people for the amputation of the leg. We can say this was not an unprovoked attack,' Detective Acting Inspector Gary Hunter said, as per The Guardian.
It's believed both men travelled together to the park in the early hours of the morning, before arriving at a tree and commencing with the removal of the leg. It's unclear why the older man wanted his leg to be removed at the time of writing, nor is it unclear why he enlisted the help of the other man and not a medical professional in a sanctioned setting.
After around 20 minutes, the man's leg was amputated with a battery-powered saw, police said. The older man was then helped back to the car before his alleged accomplice left the scene on foot.

Later that day, the 36-year-old was located by police at an Innisfail residence and charged with one count of murder. He's expected to appear in court tomorrow.
Hunter hasn't provided any details regarding the 'arrangement... the specific reasons and the arrangement are subject to inquiries by detectives. We are unable to establish the motive behind the removal of the leg but we can say it's an arrangement between the two people', he said. It's also unclear whether any drugs were involved.
'During my 34 years as a police officer I’ve never experienced a situation as we are presented with here today.'
