An elderly man was left in hospital with ‘significant injuries’ after he had a run-in with a seriously angry squirrel.
Yes, they might look cute and cuddly, but this squirrel was not f***ing about.
In fairness to it, the man who it injured was reportedly trying to choke it to death, so maybe it was just fighting for survival.

The Slidell Police Department in Louisiana responded to a call on Tuesday stating that the old man was being attacked by the squirrel.
It’s not clear who started it, but the fracas didn’t end well for anyone.
The 78-year-old man was left with injuries that have been described as ‘significant’ – although we don’t know exactly what that means.
He is expected to make a recovery though, which is more than we can say for the squirrel.

That’s because the furry fighter died later on from injuries sustained during the scrap.
According to the Slidell Police Department: “The caller stated that ‘a 78-year-old elderly man was actively being attacked by a squirrel, who was eating his hand’.
“The man was attempting to choke the squirrel, but was unable to obtain a good grip,”

When they arrived at the scene, the first responders set about trying to separate the pair upon seeing the ‘vicious squirrel’ fighting with the old man.
After while they managed to end proceedings, but the man was badly hurt and the squirrel had suffered injuries that would eventually claim its life.
So how did this all come about in the first place?
Well, Slidell Police explained: “The man was walking around outside of his home, when the squirrel came from the direction of his roof and attacked him.”

As far as they are aware, the man had done nothing to provoke the squirrel, although he did later start trying to choke it to death.
What else are you supposed to do if you’re the subject of a surprise squirrel attack?
Perhaps even stranger than this is the fact that this latest attack is not an isolated incident.

Slidell has been the site of more than one squirrel attack this year, with one reported incident taking place during a Mardi Gras parade back in February.
So, what’s going on with the squirrel population in this part of Louisiana?
How have they become so threatening and dangerous to humans?
Let’s just hope that Slidell Police Department have their top men working on it.
