It probably won't come as a surprise to you, but Uber just so happens to be worth a hell of a lot of money.
The company was founded in 2009 by Garrett Camp and Travis Kalanick, with them reportedly investing $220,000 in seed funding at the time.
It wasn't until the following year that Uber got some more serious funding and received $1.3 million from First Round Capital.
By 2011, Kalanick managed to land an $11 million investment into the company from venture capital firm Benchmark.

Fast forward to July of this year and Uber is now worth a whopping $141.52 billion, as per Companies Market Cap - a far cry from its humble beginnings.
Now, as of reports from this month, Camp is believed to own 3.22 percent of Uber made up of 67,270,464 shares.
According to Wall Street Zen, this is worth around $4.53 billion.
In 2019, Camp is said to have sold a large chunk of stock for a huge $35 million.

He sold 1.27 million Uber shares in November 2019 with an average selling price of $27.75 each.
Meanwhile, going off today's market (July 23), Uber stock is going for $67.73 a piece, meaning had Camp held on a bit longer, he could have made more than $86 million.
While Uber has brought Camp a hell of a lot of success, it wasn't the 45-year-old's first start up. Camp's first company was web discovery tool StumbleUpon which he created in 2001.

"I started our company in Calgary with three friends while in graduate school," Camp recalled to The New York Times in 2011.
"I'd like to say StumbleUpon provides a personal tour of the Internet. The responses are more targeted to your interests than they would be with a regular search engine.
"If you choose a topic on our site that you’re interested in, such as art, Web sites related to art appear, as if you’re leafing through an art magazine."

He added: "I’m interested in sites that help people find information and filter what’s available. The Internet is so big that no one can stay on top of everything."
Just six years after its creation, Camp told StumbleUpon to eBay for $75 million.
The company has since been renamed Mix and, as of last year, he was still its chairman.
Camp is also a founding partner of business incubator Expa.
