A spokesperson for Nancy Pelosi has addressed the video of her allegedly 'elbowing' a young girl.
The viral footage from last week shows Pelosi lightly shoving the young daughter of Republican representative Mayra Flores during a photo-op of her swearing-in ceremony.
Some viewers slammed the house speaker on social media for the move, while others saw nothing wrong with it.

The spokesperson said Pelosi was just trying to make sure the girl could be seen in the photos. Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff Drew Hammill tweeted: "It’s sad to see ‘news outlets’ that know better misrepresent the Speaker’s effort to ensure Rep. Flores’ daughters wouldn’t be hidden behind her in all of the photos of such an important moment for their family."
However, mother Mayra Flores says she's proud of her daughter for not allowing the incident to 'faze her'.
She tweeted: "I am so proud of my strong, beautiful daughter for not allowing this to faze her. She continued to smile and pose for the picture like a Queen.

"No child should be pushed to the side for a photo op. PERIOD!!"
One person who believed Pelosi to be in the wrong has commented: "I know many are shrugging this off like it's not that big of a deal, but I just can't imagine a scenario where I would ever do that to someone else's child."
Another added: "Your daughter has more class, more dignity, more composure, more self-control, more maturity, and more self-worth than the "adult" trying to elbow her out of the picture."
"This is the grossed thing I’ve seen on Twitter this weekend, and that’s saying a lot. Nancy needs to apologise to this sweet, strong young woman," a third wrote.

"She stood her ground!" someone else said.
Although not everyone had the same opinion as some thought the whole situation lacked 'context'.
One defender tweeted: "In the entire video, Speaker Pelosi was incredibly gracious to you and your family.

"At the point where you claim she 'pushed' your daughter, she was asking if you had other family members you'd like to include in pix and she motioned for them to join. STOP."
Someone else added: "What are you lunatics talking about? At no point does Pelosi push your daughter aside or even so much as make contact with her."
While a third commented: "Looks like your daughter was leaning on Pelosi."
