On 11 April, the Colombian National Police shared that Pitt has been arrested, having found him from the photo shared on Facebook.

Police Commander General Jorge Luis Vargas said of the arrest: "We have managed to capture one of the people we consider to be the most important link in Colombia with the Sinaloa cartel of what is known here as the FARC of Ivan Mordisco and Gentil Duarte."

According to intelligence reports, Pitt was thought to have arrived in Colombia in February 2022.

Upon his arrival, security cameras at the Jose Maria Cordova International Airport caught site of him, with the Colombian Anti-Narcotics Police and intelligence officers proceeding to follow his trail.

Pitt was said to have been in the region to negotiate with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia-People's Army (FARC).

The pictures at the popular landmark led authorities to the property where Pitt would be arrested.

"Before hanging up the intercom, the uniformed officers arrived inside the apartment, without giving him time to escape from the police siege. There he was notified of the extradition request issued by the Southern District Court of California for conspiracy to import cocaine," a police statement noted.

Pitt was then captured and said to have offered a bribe to the agents, reports the Mexicanist.

Now, Colombian officials are attempting to hand over Pitt to the U.S Government, with an extradition order being requested.

"This person has an arrest warrant for extradition to the United States by the DEA, for the shipment of several hundred kilos to the United States. Additional information is that he also worked with the family of Mexico's most dangerous drug trafficker, El Chapo Guzman. This is how the US authorities have linked him," General Vargas noted.
