A private investigator has broken down everything she does in order to catch a deceiving partner in the act.

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, the last thing we really want to be talking about is cheaters ruining the romance.

However, if you suspect your partner may be cheating, it’s always best to discover the truth for clarity.

That’s where Cassie Crofts comes in, who works as a private investigator uncovering cheaters on a daily basis.

Cassie, from Australia, runs Venus Investigations and works with clients that are concerned their partner may be cheating and conduct dating background checks.

Speaking with UNILAD, Cassie discussed the process of catching cheaters, and it begins with going through a timeline with the concerned partner.

Creating a timeline

"We try, wherever possible, to sort of identify a particular date where we think something's going to happen," she said.

"Like, you know, he's flagged a couple of days in advance that he's going to be working late, or there's a trip to go see his cousin and you've never heard of this cousin. What's going on, that kind of thing."

Cassie continued: "I sort of build out an investigation plan for them based on what's a successful outcome. And then we talk through costings and how long we're willing to do this for, and they get a daily update on where things are at.

"So occasionally it will have been three days [and] we haven't found anything, and they're like, 'Look, at this point, it looks like he's doing everything he says he is. We'll call it there'.

"And some people want to keep going a bit longer. There's always that conversation with the client around you know, 'it's been two weeks'."

Using technology to catch a cheater

There's not always an obvious strategy all the time though when it comes to uncovering these cheaters, so Cassie sometimes has to adopt a 'boots-on-the-ground' approach.

And this involves utilizing a ton of gadgets, though Cassie's most used is something 99 percent of us use on a daily basis.

She said: "In this day and age, someone you know in public who seems to be typing on their phone or has their phone in their top pocket or something, no one really assumes you're filming or assumes anything dodgy is going on.

"So it probably is the phone I use most often."

As for where Cassie catches out these cheaters, there are some common places they are caught in the act.

Common places cheaters are caught

"Most of the time it's the classic things, it's work, it's parks, it's hotels, particularly where I am on the Sunshine Coast, it's a very 'beachy', summery kind of culture.

"So a lot of the time it's an outdoor bar, a beach or the lake."

There have been rare occasions Cassie has strayed away from these areas however, and these have certainly made for some interesting encounters.

One occasion involved Cassie tailgating a man after football training, when he typically goes for drinks with some of his pals.

"[I took] my dog because I can sort of walk around there with my dog in the active wears and no one is really going to pay much attention," she said.

"He had started to leave and my dog hadn't sort of done her business yet. We're starting to leave and my dog is just pooping herself in the back seat."

Certainly the glamours part of being a private investigator.
