A popular sex position has been revealed to be one of the 'most dangerous'.
Injuries can occur at any time, but arguably one of the worst times they can happen is in the bedroom.
Whether that's falling off the bed and banging your head or pulling a muscle while trying to get into an uncompromising position, these things happen – but there's one position in particular that's said to be the most likely to cause injury (a broken penis, specifically).

How can someone break their penis when it has no bones, I hear you ask? TikTok star Dr Karan Raj explained: "A penile fracture is a tear in the tunica albuginea. This is a rubbery sheath of tissue that allows the penis to enlarge in width and length during an erection."
In the video, he goes on to reveal the position that reportedly causes 50 per cent of all penile fractures — that position being reverse cowgirl.
As to how it's 'dangerous', Dr Raj said that if the rhythm is off between the two people getting down and dirty, the male parts could 'slip out' and end up 'crushed' by the female pubic bone. Ouch.

Backing Dr Raj's claims, a 2014 study published in the Advances in Urology medical journal looked at the 'potential risk factors related to penile fracture occurance'.
It discovered heterosexual intercourse was the 'most common cause of fracture' and the specific sex position? Well, 'woman on top', i.e cowgirl or reverse cowgirl (unless you like getting really experimental in the bedroom).

And you'll definitely know if it happens to you, either because of the sheer pain of the incident, a popping or cracking sound, rapid loss of erection, swelling, or discoloration of the penile shaft, says Mayo Clinic.
"Left untreated, a penis fracture might result in a curved penis or the permanent inability to get or keep an erection firm enough for sex (erectile dysfunction)," it added.
As well as the tunica albuginea, the urethra (the tube that drains pee from your body) can get damaged.
"Blood at the opening of the penis or in the urine may mean the urethra was injured," the medical website warns.

To treat a fractured penis, it's likely the injured individual will have to have surgery.
A urologist will perform the surgery, explains Cleveland Clinic, who will 'repair the tunica albuginea with stitches (sutures)'.
The surgeon would also repair any tears to the urethra, should there be any.
