A woman has opened up about her ex-boyfriend sustaining a head injury and forgetting they broke up and how it led to them ultimately getting back together.

In February 2020, Jenna split up with her boyfriend Mitchell because she was 'too overwhelmed by life'.

A day later, Mitchell was involved in an accident and badly concussed, not remembering the break-up he'd just been through.

The break-up and accident

The day after the break-up, Mitchell went skiing at Beaver Mountain in Utah.

The 22-year-old tried to 'go off a jump,' Jenna told People, but it was 'super icy' and when he went off it, he ended up 'land[ing] on his head' and blacking out.

When he woke up after experiencing 'a pretty severe concussion', Mitchell had no recollection Jenna had dumped him and called her to ask her to come and pick him up.

The confusing aftermath

Jenna explained: "Mitch kept messaging me and trying to hang out after his concussion and I was confused as to why he would keep messaging me because we had broken up.

"I thought that maybe he took the statement of staying friends really seriously. It even was to the point when I told him that my roommates and I had a hard day and he came and brought us ice cream."

Regretting her decision to break up with Mitchell, Jenna turned around to him 'nervous to swallow [her] pride' and asked if they could start dating again.

It was only then they both realized Mitchell had 'no clue' they 'even broke up' in the first place.

Jenna explained that she had told him about the break-up and what had been said between the pair when they were in her car and had resolved to end the relationship.

"He told me he didn’t remember any of that except for chatting in the car," she continued. "But he didn’t remember what we chatted about."

Thankfully, Mitchell 'thought it was super funny' he'd forgotten they'd broken up, with Jenna noting she was 'relieved'.

She added: "It made it easy to get back together because to him, we never weren’t together!"

The happy ending

The pair ended up getting engaged five months later and tied the knot in September 2020.

Jenna resolved: "During my husband’s speech, he brought up not remembering the break-up but how he is so grateful that it all worked out in the end.

"We are both 27 now and when people ask us about our love story it’s our favorite part to tell. We really felt invisible strings pulling us together all along."
